A tough opposition!

 

The weather was overcast, dry and breezy.

 

1st Half

 

Another thumper of a start from the lads but Lewes spotted an opening early with a converted try in the 3rd minute. Loonies mad good ground and opportunities but a 2nd converted try hit the clock in the 12th minute by the visitors. There were equal amounts of lineouts and scrums in this half and ball possession was by no means one sided with some great attempts to put some home points on the board but Lewes went on to convert their try points in the 13th (not converted) and 41st minutes of play. After 42 minutes on the stopwatch, there had been 7 scrums, 7 lineouts, advantage give for 13 and advantage against 7, a yellow card for Lewes, and a score of 0-26.

 

2nd Half

 

The visitors wasted no time with a converted try in the 2nd, 6th, 9th and 15th minutes bringing the score to 0-54. The lads persevered in defending their line well, creating quick breaks and some excellent scrum work but still couldn’t quite get the ball over the touchline. For the remaining 25 minutes or so, Lewes couldn’t find any further try opportunities with the hard and dogged grit and determination of the Loonies. The 2nd half saw 11 scrums, 7 lineouts, advantage given for 11 and advantage against 6. Final Score 0-54
